Teddy Amova is the creator of Home.Of.Teddy, an online profile designed to inspire people who want to create their dream home by themselves, offering them advice, confidence, and motivation.
After years in the marketing and advertising industry, Teddy discovered her true calling in interior decoration. Inspired by global trends and with a keen eye for detail, she developed a unique business model that quickly found its audience on social media. Her popularity even reached television through the segment ”Как се прави?“ in the morning show "Преди обед”.
She has earned the trust of her followers thanks to her ability to present her work in an engaging and accessible way. Skillfully balancing functionality and individuality, Teddy believes that a good interior reflects the personality of its owner, and bold decisions start with small but meaningful changes.
Here’s what she shared with us:
What made you transition from marketing and advertising to interior decoration? How did your experience in advertising influence your new endeavor?
As I like to joke – two burnouts and an existential crisis later, I found my calling at the age of 34. I’ve been working in interior decor for two years now, have taken numerous courses abroad, and built a business model that hadn’t been applied in Bulgaria before. My experience in marketing and advertising allowed me to position my services in an interesting and understandable way, which in turn boosted my social media presence.
How are social media changing the way people perceive and seek your services as an interior decorator?
A well-developed personal brand on social media is crucial to how people perceive you. Since I regularly share parts of my process and work, I spark interest, and people can see firsthand the types of interior problems I solve. This builds trust that they wouldn’t otherwise have before we establish personal contact. It puts any business in a position where it is sought after rather than having to seek out clients—an absolute game changer.
What has been the most inspiring or memorable project you have worked on?
Every project I take on is unique because it’s in a different style, and each client I work with eventually becomes a friend. But if I had to choose the project that best reflects me and my colorful eclectic style, it would be the Bauhaus project for an Airbnb in Lozenets, where I mixed a blue-red palette with orange accents. You can also see a report on this project on bTV.
How do you balance following trends while offering unique solutions to your clients?
The truth is, I rarely follow trends blindly. I always prefer to understand how a client feels about themselves and the space we are transforming. I try to incorporate their favorite colors, shapes, and objects into a consistent design that is always cozy, unique, and emotionally engaging.
What are the most interesting interior design trends for 2025?
One clear trend is the increasing use of bolder colors in furniture, specifically burgundy and deep blue/indigo. We’re also seeing more daring choices in wallpapers and paint colors with darker shades, including painted ceilings. At the same time, soft shapes in sofas, beds, and tables continue to gain popularity. When combined with darker wood tones beyond the standard oak, this makes for a winning formula for a cozy home.
Where do you find inspiration for your projects?
Everywhere! But as a content creator, I naturally look at a lot of online examples. The U.S. has amazing design studios that create bold and eclectic designs, which I follow, as well as influencers who are decorators or vintage enthusiasts. Additionally, Russia has unique architects and designers who often set trends that we see here 2-3 years later.
What advice would you give to people who want to add more style and individuality to their homes?
Start with something small to gauge how bold you feel. This could be a colorful poster, new decorative pillows, or small decor items. Live with your bold choices before making more permanent changes like a sofa or built-in furniture. Often-overlooked elements such as accent lighting (please, no bulbs above 4000K!), as well as the design of switches, outlets, and furniture handles, make a big impact. There’s a reason people say, "The devil is in the details." You'll see how these little things can transform a space.
Is there something you've always wanted to do but never found the time or courage for?
I’m a risk-taker, as people who know me like to say. When I set my mind to something, I find a way to make it happen. But one dream I hope to realize in the next 12-24 months is a line of my own home decor products, with a special focus on DIY solutions like self-adhesive tiles, wallpapers, and other easy and budget-friendly decor transformations. And why not a workwear brand under the slogan Decor Diva? 😉
What do you think is the key to making an influencer marketing campaign feel authentic rather than just another ad?
For me, the key to success lies in the trust a brand must place in the content creator they hire. Unfortunately, we often see brands imposing so many restrictions and requirements that the final result feels foreign to the creator’s audience. This inevitably turns the content into an ad that doesn’t deliver the desired results. The more creative freedom an influencer has, the more successful the campaign will be.
What is the most important thing a brand should understand about your audience before offering a partnership?
The people who choose to follow me are those interested in interior design, decor, renovations, or simply looking for easy DIY home ideas. I always present everything with a dose of humor and self-irony. My goal is for everyone who sees my content to leave my channel with a smile. Only then do I know I’ve done my job. The feedback I receive daily confirms this, and I often call my audience “my digital family.”
